From version 5.1.1 of the app, Orange Phone proposes a way to identify LIVE a number.
If Orange Phone doesn't provide you any information on the calling number, but you still have doubts on the nature of this number, don't hesitate to use this new functionality!
This new functionality gives you the opportunity to:
- identify a calling number during a call if Orange Phone doesn't already give any information
- identify any number before placing a call (from a photo, camera, ...) and then place the call from the notification raised by Orange Phone with trust in this number
This new feature is exposed through a Shortcut you can install in your iPhone easily by clicking here: Shortcut to identify a number.
How to use
Very simple once the Shortcut is installed in your iPhone!
When you receive an incoming call and you want to know the nature of the caller, say Siri, Identify a number! That's it!
Orange Phone then will display a notification that contains all the information on this number!
You can also use this Siri command from any application that shows you a phone number that you would like to identify!
Limits
The caller identification with this Shortcut doesn't work if the call is displayed as a Banner.
However, the caller identification works well in the following cases :
- if the call is received on the lock screen
- if the call is displayed in full screen
- if you click on the Banner of the incoming call to display it in full screen and then launch the Shortcut
Note : if you want to see the identification in the notification on the lock screen, you need to check the following configuration:
- in the settings of the Orange Phone app (in Settings)
- in the details of Notifications
- check that Show Previews in the Lock sScreen Appearance section is set to Always
First use
When using the Shortcut for the first time, you will be asked to authorize Orange Phone to read the phone number on your screen. For the Shortcut to work correctly, you have to click on Always allow. It won't be requested anymore after that.
Tips of usage
To facilitate the usage of this Shortcut on an incoming call, we strongly recommend to use a simple tip : tap 2 or 3 times on the back of your iPhone to launch the identification.
To make this simple action, you have to associate the identification Shortcut with this action to tap on the back of the phone.
For that, you have to follow these configuration steps:
1. Go to Settings > Accessibility
2. In this menu, go in the entry Touch
3. In the bottom of this menu, click on Back Tap
4. You can then choose to tap 2 or 3 times on the back of the phone to launch the action. Click on the line to choose the action to launch
5. Go down in the page to see the list of Shortcuts and choose Identify a number
6. You can go back once to check that the identification action is well associated to the tap on the back of the phone
Now, during an incoming call (or any request to identify a number displayed on the screen), you just have to tap 2 or 3 times on the back of your device to launch the identification of the number!
Place a call
As described previously, the Shortcut displays a notification with the information known on the number.
If you use the Shortcut to identify a number before placing a call, you can just make a long press on the notification to place the call without entering the number again!
